Who are we?
The Media Historical Society has its roots in historic preservation. Our lovely home, the Minshall House, was slated for demolition in the 1970s, and local school children and their teachers famously saved the building. The Media Historical Society was formed to fund and oversee the restoration and ongoing maintenance of the building and grounds.
Today we see ourselves less as preservationists of a particular place and time than as advocates of learning and understanding our shared local history right up to the present time. There is no one way to “do history” and we are open to exploring different approaches and topics, while maintaining established standards as a member of the American Association for State and Local History.
